What is Microsoft Word 2003?
Ans. Let suppose we join a new office. In any office letter typing, creating notes and memo typing is a big task. Officer dictate letter to his or her secretary, and secretary type it on typewriter. After complete typing secretary give it to officer. Office makes necessary changes into it and give it back to secretary for type it again. But during second time typing secretary can make slight mistakes, which can be hidden by white fluid or using rubber. This all process is very tedious and cumbersome and there is no guarantee of good quality of letter. So technology provides people a high speed with good accuracy machine which is called computer. But in computer we need Microsoft office 2003 to make task easier.
Components of MS-Word 2003:
- Title Bar: Title bar is top most bar of MS-Word 2003 which shows name of currently running document. If we recently open MS-Word 2003 file then it shows Document-1 name on title bar. If we save it with any name then it’s saved name shows on title bar.
- Menu Bar: Menu bar is second top bar of MS-Word 2003. It shows menu item list. MS-Word 2003 contains nine menu items into its menu bar e.g. File, Edit, View, Insert, Format, Table, Tools, Window and Help.
- Standard Toolbar: Standard toolbar has some common commands which are selected from Menu bar such as New File, Save, Save As, Print and Print Preview etc.
- Formatting Toolbar: Formatting toolbar has some common formatting commands like Font, Font Style, Font Size, Text Alignments etc.
- Rule Bar: Ruler bar allow you to change tab and indent setting into your document. Latter we will discuss Tab Settings and Indents briefly.
- Scroll Bar: Microsoft Word 2003 has two types of scroll bars (i) Vertical Scroll Bar (ii) Horizontal Scroll Bar. Vertical Scroll Bar is used to up and down your document page and Horizontal Scroll Bar is used to move your document page left and right.
- Drawing Toolbar: Drawing Toolbar has simple drawing buttons that you can use to select some common drawing commands, such as text box and word art.
- Status bar: Status bar provides information about page number, line number, and column number in your document. It show value of column number and line number where currently cursor is situated.
- Cursor: Cursor is a blinking element of our word document where our typed text appear.
- Views of Document: Provides access to four different view of your document.
